Freddy Deeb beat Sorel Mizzi in the High Roller Event at a poker tournament. The WPT returned to one of its old haunts, the Aviation Club in Paris, France to resurrect the Grand Prix de Paris event. Theo Jorgensen of Sweden took Main Event honors, while Freddy Deeb bested Sorel Mizzi in the High Roller Event. Even though Mizzi had to settle for second, the points he earned from the tournament gave him a more than solid POY lead headed into the WSOP.

Mizzi’s success extended beyond Paris in May though. He was one of a number of big names to capture a SCOOP title during PokerStars popular May series, the Spring Championship of Online Poker. The series’ second run was even more popular than the first. Notables like Mizzi, Kevin Saul, Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen and others all ended up in the winner’s circle, with Ryan “toetagu” Fair capturing the high buy-in Main Event title and Team PokerStars Online Pro George Lind earning Player of the Series honors.
